Product information
Birdie is back. The fine bird was the very first member of the large Hoptimist family. Now Birdie has flown in again, spreading optimism and good cheer when you hang it up and the spring is set in motion. Let Birdie float above your head, in the window, over the sofa or in any corner where it can remind you to be happy and enjoy a bird’s eye view.
It began with a bird, then came a girl, a boy and a frog. Birdie was the first figurine that the Danish designer Gustav Ehrenreich designed back in 1968. Then followed Bimble the girl, Bumble the boy and Kvak the frog, and since then many more wonderful characters have been added.
With a strong belief in the power of smiles, Gustav Ehrenreich founded his happy Hoptimist movement in the late 1960s. The aim was to create a figurine that would serve as a constant reminder to stay positive and optimistic. For although the 1960s are often referred to as the “Swinging Sixties”, the decade was marked by unrest. This made Ehrenreich’s design a welcome spreader of joy in an otherwise turbulent time.
